Students recently took part in a Reality Store experience where they stepped into adult life—complete with a career, salary, and family household to support. From budgeting for furniture and insurance to managing utilities and entertainment, students quickly discovered just how far their dollars go! 💵✨

Hands-on Counting Collections is a powerful math activity for 2nd graders! By counting large sets of objects like buttons or blocks, students move beyond rote counting and actively build their number sense and place value skills.

This task is essential because it encourages students to strategically group objects into tens and hundreds to count efficiently, reinforcing the base-ten system and providing a concrete foundation for addition and subtraction up to 1,000. It also strengthens students' ability to clearly communicate their mathematical thinking and choose the most efficient counting strategy. #SecondGradeMath #PlaceValue #NumberSense #HandsOnLearning #CountingCollections

👏 Congratulations to Kinsley Horn on being selected to represent our region as a WHRO Board Member—continuing our strong partnership in bringing high-quality educational resources to our schools.
🍽️ Our 8th grade math students turned classrooms into diners to practice real-world skills like calculating tax, tip, and discount.
🙏 MHS students voluntarily gathered at the flagpoles as part of the annual, student-initiated global event “See You at the Pole,” promoted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

We are proud to share that MCPS has received the HEART of GOLD School District Award from the American Heart Association! 🏅❤️ This honor recognizes our commitment to bringing life-saving programs and resources to every student, family, and staff member.
