🌟 Surprise visits are the best kind of visits! 🌟
Dr. Seitz and Dr. Bishop spent part of the afternoon traveling across our schools to recognize our Navigators of the Quarter — outstanding staff who go above and beyond every day! 🚀
Each recipient was surprised in their element — surrounded by their colleagues and students. The halls were filled with cheers and plenty of proud “Good job!” shouts from students who were just as excited to see their teachers and staff recognized. 💙💛

🌟 MCPS Student Success Spotlight! 🌟
It’s been an amazing week across Middlesex County Public Schools!
💫 Compass Academy partnered with the Cryer Center & Hands Across Middlesex’s Food Pantry — supporting our community and learning the power of giving back.
🎶Our 4th and 5th Grade Choir absolutely knocked it out of the park at the Fall Concert last Thursday! Led by Ms. Turner, the kids sounded fantastic and looked like they were having a blast up on stage. Their hard work really paid off, and we couldn't be prouder of the show they put on.
🌺 In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, SCW students planted red poppy bulbs to raise awareness about living a drug- and alcohol-free life — thank you to Brent & Becky’s Bulbs for your support!
🏐 Huge congratulations to our 1st Team All-District Volleyball Players — Carly Jessie (Libero of the Year!), Kinsley Horn, Hannah Lambert, and Annie Bray!
🎓 Applause to our newest National Honor Society inductees for their excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
🎓 MHS students also explored future careers during Education Immersion Day at Longwood University, connecting with education and psychology programs.

💧🌿 Over two days (Oct 23-24, 2025), 57 MHS 9th graders took action in the Restore Urbanna Creek Project by collecting water quality data at two sites along Urbanna Creek. 🦪✨ Their goal? To compare current data with baseline readings from 2015, when two oyster reefs were installed. The big question: Has water quality improved over the last decade?

The purpose of the closed meeting is to discuss personnel matters, as authorized under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (§ 2.2-3711(A)(1).
Following the closed session, the Board will reconvene in open session to certify that the meeting was conducted in accordance with § 2.2-3712 of the Code of Virginia.

Our school nurses are deeply grateful for their ongoing partnership with Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield. Through the LUMC Cinderella Project, the church’s commitment provides many essential items and support that our nurses may not otherwise be able to offer—making a meaningful, positive difference in the lives of our students.

🚨🚓 What an exciting experience for Pre-K! 🚒🚔
A huge thank you to the amazing firefighters, rescue personnel, and police officers who visited us! Our youngest Colts had a blast meeting real-life community heroes, exploring a fire truck, learning about safety, and checking out all the cool gear. Learning about community helpers in person makes such a difference — we’re so grateful for all you do to keep our community safe! 🙏❤️

Thanks to Friends of the Rappahannock for helping students connect science to our environment through real-world data collection!
🧬 Meanwhile, 7th grade life science students dove into frog dissections for an up-close look at anatomy in action.
🎉 And a big congratulations to Bishop Hanscom, recognized as the Daughters of the American Revolution Citizen of the Year! We’re proud of all the exciting learning and accomplishments happening across our schools! 💙
