MCPS was awarded a grant to purchase Just Right Readers materials for PreK-K students and their families. With these kits, each student receives a Take-Everywhere Pack of decodable books that parents can use to read at home with their child. These student-tailored packs align to the skills each child needs and their classroom instruction.

The 2nd-grade at MES has reached a major milestone by achieving their reading goal of 1,000 pages in the Shared Reading Component of Bookworms. They tracked their progress throughout the year and officially surpassed their goal after finishing the first chapter of a new book. The students are thrilled and have become more motivated and confident readers, with many eagerly seeking additional books to read. Their enthusiasm for reading has grown, especially among reluctant readers. MCPS incredibly proud of their progress and looks forward to their continued growth.
