Tonight is the parent/student driver education program at MHS. We will be holding a 90 minute parent/student driving presentation. It will be held in the auditorium at MHS from 6:00-7:30 PM. This is a new parent component/requirement from the Virginia Department of Education. If you cannot attend, then you will need to sign the parental opt-out form, which is attached. We also have forms in the office. A form was sent home with all sophomore two weeks ago. If a parent/guardian cannot attend, the student will still need to complete the 90 minute education program. We encourage a parent/guardian and the student to attend tonight's meeting.

Here is the list of spirit day themes for Homecoming week. Homecoming week is Monday, 9/18/23 through Friday, 9/22/23. The parade is Friday, 9/22/23 at 5:30 PM (from the courthouse to MHS) followed by the game at 7:00 PM and the crowning of the king and queen at halftime. The dance will be in the gym until 10:30 PM on 9/22/23. Tickets are $5 each and must be purchased in advance at the school. Monday- USA day - wear red, white, and blue Tuesday- jersey day - wear your favorite team jersey Wednesday- country club vs. western day - dress up or dress in western style clothes Thursday- neon day - wear a bright, neon color Friday- Charger pride - wear blue and white

Picture day was last week at MHS. In case your student didn't bring home information, here is what you need to view and order photos. Simply visit www.YoursTrulyPhoto.com and go to order school photos. When prompted for an online code, enter your student's 5 digit lunch number. Makeup day is this Wednesday. Grades 9-11 have until 10/1/23 to go online and select your favorite picture for the yearbook. Seniors have until 11/1/23. An error was made in the adult ticket price shared in an earlier post. The adult ticket price is $7 per the Tidewater District.

Good morning. Our first home football game is tonight and starts at 7:00 PM. Gates open at 6:00 PM. The price for a student ticket is $3, the price for a senior citizen ticket is $3, and price for an adult ticket is $5 (Tidewater District sets the prices.) Bags and backpacks are not allowed at any MCPS athletic events. Diaper bags and small purses are allowed. Re-entry is not permitted at MCPS athletic events.

Good morning. Breezeline is currently working on a problem with internet services at MHS. Our phones use internet, so we are not able to receive or make calls at this time. We will update everyone once the problem has been fixed by Breezeline.

Due to high temperatures and the heat index, the cross country meet is cancelled today, Wednesday, 9/6/23. the cross country team will practice inside today at MHS.

After the homecoming game on Friday, 9/22/23, there will be a dance in the gym for MHS students. If a student wants to bring a guest to the dance, a guest form can be picked up in the main office at MHS. They must be returned no later than Wednesday, 9/20/23. The dance will go until 10:30 PM. This is not a semi-formal dance, so students can come right from the game without having to change clothes. MHS will have a semi-formal dance in the winter so that students can get dressed up. The Homecoming Parade will start at 5:30 PM and go from the courthouse to the high school. The game is at 7:00 PM, and crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen will be at halftime.

MCPS Student Handbook Information All parents/guardians of any student attending Middlesex County Public Schools are required to review the student handbook with their child(ren) and to complete a form for each student attending. The JV and varsity volleyball games are cancelled for tonight. They will be rescheduled. As soon as we know the new date, we will share it.

MCPS is currently experiencing issues with the phone system and we are unable to receive outside phone calls. Breezeline, our provider is working to get the system operational as soon as possible. There is no disruption to learning or safety.

School picture day is Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Yours Truly Photography will be here to take underclass pictures and senior formal pictures. The make up picture day is Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

Parents/guardians of seniors - Ms. Baltrusaitis will host a meeting for seniors and parents/guardians on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 6:00 PM in the MHS media center to discuss planning for college.
